Emmanuel Menahem was born in 1948 in Port Said, Egypt. He grew up in an observant family and studied at the synagogue after school. He left Egypt with his family in 1956 and in his interview described the evacuation in detail. He studied graphic design and on moving to England as a child developed a lifelong love of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
