Irene Harari was born in 1935 in Cairo, Egypt. She was very close to her grandparents in Egypt, and in her interview described Jewish life with them. In 1957 she left Egypt with her husband and temporarily lived with her in-laws in Manchester. She has kept in touch with friends in Egypt throughout her life.
