Sydney Assor was born in 1931 in Casablanca, Morocco. Sydney described his childhood in Casablanca as happy and secure. His family lived in a Muslim neighbourhood, where they had very good relations with their neighbours. In the 1950s Sydney joined a Dutch manufacturing company. He came to England in 1961 when relocated by his Dutch employer.
