Vivienne Harris was born in 1944 in Cairo, Egypt. During the Suez Crises her family were put under house arrest as they had British passports, and as a child she was the only family member permitted to leave the house for three months. After this, the family were told that they had to leave within ten days, taking only a suitcase of clothes each. She now feels strongly English.
