Zaki Ishag was born in 1936 in Khartoum, Sudan. In his interview he described growing antisemitism from 1952 onwards and he decided to leave Sudan after the death of his father. He left Sudan in 1964 and settled in London where he became one of the founders of the David Ishag Synagogue.
